For over 40 years, District 19 CSB has provided behavioral health services to residents of the above localities.  Our primary objective is to provide quality community-based services in the least restrictive setting to people in need, by providing tools to improve their total overall level of functioning – often resulting in personal growth and empowerment.  Our service population(s) may include adults with serious mental illnesses, children and adolescents with severe emotional disturbances, as well as other individuals and families in need of treatment and services for mental health conditions, intellectual/developmental disabilities and substance use disorders.

Our D19 Area Clinics provide a wide array of behavioral health, intellectual/developmental disability and substance use disorder (SUD) services to residents of the cities of Colonial Heights, Dinwiddie, Emporia, Hopewell and Petersburg, and the counties of Dinwiddie, Greensville, Prince George, Surry and Sussex.

“Our mission is to strengthen and maintain collaboration with community members to support the prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) use among youth.”

The Coalition Against Alcohol, Nicotine and Drug Under-Age Use (CAAN-DUU), in collaboration with District 19 Community Service Board Prevention Services, is a regional coalition comprised of community partners within the District 19 service area. CAAN-DUU serves a vital role in assisting local community organizations and schools to maintain existing alcohol, tobacco and other drug (ATOD) prevention programs or fulfill a need for such programs in an effort to bring about awareness and substance use education. District 19 Suicide Prevention Committee – Team Sav-A-LIfeTeam Sav-A-Life includes representatives from District 19 CSB, area offices on youth, social services, NAMI, law enforcement, private medical centers, military organizations, faith communities and other child-serving agencies. The committee is responsible for coordinating local suicide prevention activities and events that help raise awareness that suicide is a public health problem that is preventable and increase knowledge of the factors that offer protection from suicidal behaviors and promote wellness and recovery.  

Team Sav-A-LIfe provides training on suicide prevention and behavioral health wellness to individuals and groups that have an interest in the prevention of suicide and related behaviors, and offers educational seminars and presentations.  Sav-A-Life also participates in local and regional suicide prevention initiatives, as well as community events, like Out of the Darkness Walks.
