Regional resources: Chesterfield County

Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County.

Prevention Services promotes individual, family and community behavioral health wellness. Our Services include:

  • Community education about mental health, suicide and substance misuse prevention
  • Consultation with early childhood providers
  • Parent education          
  • Youth prevention programs
  • Dissemination of safe storage and disposal tools including medication disposal pouches, medication lock boxes and gun locks

Chesterfield Same Day Access

If you are looking for mental health or drug and alcohol treatment services, our Same Day Access program is the initial point of contact for information and service requests for a wide range of mental health services and programs.   Call (804) 768-7318 between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Monday or Friday or between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.

The Chesterfield Suicide Awareness and Prevention Coalition brings together organizations in Central Virginia who are working to educate residents about mental illness, risk factors for suicide and support resources within our community. By educating people of all ages, we are widening the safety net in our community to recognize the warning signs of suicide, take the appropriate steps to help the person in crisis and identify the appropriate help.
