substance abuse prevention, and mental health, and wellness.
2.) Providing Youth MHFA and Adult MHFA to groups of 10 or more.
3.) Using local data to understand how mental health issues and substance
abuse issues are affecting the population of Goochland and Powhatan Counties.

community so that we can enhance health in ways that are measurable.

We offer both the Adult and Youth Versions of this course free of charge.
Our job is to create partnerships within Goochland and Powhatan that work to make a safe, healthy, and resilient community. Preventing substance abuse and suicide are our most important priorities.
So, how do we do that?
First, we have to gather information that explains how substance abuse and emotional health problems are affecting our community. We can’t do this alone, so we rely upon the knowledge and skills of other groups and individuals who want to help.
Once we know the answers to questions such as the ones below, we can make a plan.
“What drugs are people in Goochland and Powhatan most likely to use?”,
“How old are people when they start using drugs?”
“How are people getting their hands on drugs in the first place?”
“What puts people at risk for suicide or drug use in Goochland and Powhatan?”
“What are the opportunities in our community that keep our youth engaged in a healthy life?”
Finding answers to these types of questions and creating a plan happens when we team up with our amazing community partners.
